On Oct. 20, Heartland Film Festival kicked off their 25th opening night.
With such a huge milestone, actors and producers from the “Book of Love” came to support their film and celebrate Heartland’s 25th year.
Actress Jessica Biel, producer Michelle Purple, and actor Richard Robichaux walked the red carpet.
“I’ve never been to this festival before, so it’s really humbling to be here for the 25th Anniversary,” Biel said.
The “Book of Love” stars Jason Sudeikis, Jessica Biel, and “Game of Thrones” actress Maisie Williams.
After his wife dies, a man (Sudeikis) rediscovers himself while helping a homeless teen build a raft to sail across the Atlantic.
“Do what you came here to do. Not what your mother wants you to do, your sister, Aunt Sally, or your teacher,” Robichaux said. “Do what you came here to do. This film I think says that.”
The movie took over nine years to make. Biel, a producer of the film, says they overcame numerous challenges to make this movie happen, including being 8 months pregnant with her son.
“Dog work, water work, boats, building things, kids. It was a lot of elements,” Biel said. “Looking at it now, of course there are things I’d want to change. Of course I wish we had more time and money, but I’m really proud of what we did. I’m really proud of my director.”
The seats at the Scottish Rite Cathedral were filled. Moviegoers walked out of the film impressed by what they saw.
“It was very good. It was actually very heartfelt, getting over grief, things like that. It’s a very good movie,” Jeff Ward said.
“I enjoyed it. I thought it was well done, well produced,” a moviegoer said. “I think a lot of people would take different things from it. It was thought provoking.”
