Ten Best Dressed at the Oscars

Lace dresses, bold lips, and suede jackets were a few trends that celebrities rocked during the red carpet of the 88th Academy Awards. Jennifer Lawrence didn’t fall, but instead wore my favorite look of the night in Dior. Oscars night was a mish mash of bold fashion looks, race controversy, and Sylvester Stallone going home, yet again without an Oscar.

Critics raved about the fashion looks, but Chris Rock’s monologue also had people talking. He addressed the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, and referred to the Academy Awards as the “White People’s Choice Awards.” He addressed controversial topics that either made you laugh or uncomfortable. He also commented on a new Red Carpet rule that came to his attention Oscar Night.

Rock stated that someone told him on Sunday that he’s not allowed to ask women what they’re wearing anymore. That people have to ask women more, because they ask men more questions then  “what are you wearing.” According to The New York Times, In Rock’s monologue he explained, “everything’s not sexism, everything’s not racism.”

“They ask the men more because the men are all wearing the same outfits, O.K.?...Every guy in there is wearing the exact same thing,” Rock said.

“You know, if George Clooney showed up with a lime green tux on, and a swan coming out his ass, somebody would go, “What you wearing, George?”

His statement about the new red carpet etiquette was jarring, because I didn’t know that asking the traditional red carpet interview question could be construed as sexist. Rock’s statement surprised me, because that question is the basis of all red carpet interviews, but as a woman I totally get it. Ask me more than what I’m wearing. I know I look good, but I’ve accomplished more than my outfit. This may be a new found issue, but with that in mind, here’s my ten best dressed celebrities of the 88th Academy Awards:
