GradFair was hosted in the Campus Center in room 450A on Wednesday and Thursday during the last week of March. GradFair was oriented towards helping all of the 2023 graduating students prepare for graduation day as they walked through the tables set up throughout the room.
The first table was the introduction table where graduates and undergraduates alike were explained how commencement would be this year. Students received an IUPUI tech bag, key chain, and stickers while being talked through the information sheets on the table.

The second table was hosted by IUPUI Alumni and students were walked through how to register and keep in touch with the university after graduation. Students were given an information sheet and an IU Alum glass cup.
“I am very excited about this, becoming an IU Alum has been my goal for the past four years,” graduating IU senior Grace Auburn said. “I worked very hard to earn this cup, that sticker, and the happiness I feel right now.”
The third table contained information about ordering your cap and gown, class rings, diploma frames, and thank you notes. Students were given an information sheet regarding package details and ordering information before having the opportunity to use provided computers to complete their rental orders.
The main event here was the graduation photo opportunity provided to the students. Graduates were provided with regalia and props and got their pictures taken by school photographers.
“I came to GradFair for this opportunity because it as a low-stress environment to get a good picture taken. I don’t know how I’m going to react on graduation day so just in case I wanted to get at least one good picture,” Ashley Simon, a Graduate student returning for her Master’s said.

The first taste of graduation came in the form of getting to wear school-specific regalia and hearing congratulations as the pictures were taken. During the first couple of hours of GradFair, hundreds of students filed out of the event happy, informed, and excited about their final month at IUPUI.
“I am thankful to the faculty that hosted this event because it allowed me to get all of the information needed and order my cap and gown before graduation. I was starting to get stressed out and the grad fair helped me a lot,” Cole Carter, a Kelly School of Business graduate said.
Jenna Carter is a senior majoring in Public Relations. She is also a social media intern, and this is her first year with Campus Citizen.
