"Bottoms" is the absurd teen comedy the world needs

Described as a “queer Fight Club,” “Bottoms” is the latest from director Emma Seligman, who exploded onto the scene in 2020 with indie film “Shiva Baby.” Here, Rachel Sennott, who plays PJ and co-wrote the movie with Seligman, and Ayo Edebiri, who plays Josie, are two high school friends who end up starting an all-girls fight club in an attempt to lose their virginities to popular cheerleaders Isabel (Havana Rose Liu) and Brittany (Kaia Gerber) under the guise of defense against the guys at the school.

Local author John Green visits Indianapolis Public Library for Banned Books Week

This year, Banned Books Week took place from Oct. 1-7. The Indianapolis Public Library kicked off the week with a discussion featuring John Green at the central location on Oct. 2.  Green is a New York Times bestselling author and Indianapolis resident. He has been vocal about the effects of book bans, and has even had one of his novels, “Looking for Alaska,” challenged throughout the country.

Review: “Oppenheimer,” a biopic worth your time

“Oppenheimer” is the latest in the stream of biopics the film industry has produced in the last few years, but, unlike the smash hits “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Rocketman,” “Oppenheimer” tackles a different kind of “rockstar.” The film is the most recent entry in Nolan’s filmography, joining the critically acclaimed ranks of “Dunkirk,” “Memento” and “The Dark Knight” trilogy, in addition to many others, and it seems that critics agree it will be put up as one of Nolan’s absolute best movies to date.

  With Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling coming out this summer, we, Abby Godsen (copy editor and reporter) and Jackie Bozinovski (reporter and Abby’s roommate), decided it would be a great idea to rewatch and rank (almost) all of the Barbie movies to date in celebration.  This is the fourth and final part featuring an overall ranking for all the movies watched.
